









PUBLIC HEARING OF ORDINANCE #42 & #44
JUNE 1, 2006
Elkins City Council met for a public hearing in the council chamber of city hall at 7:06 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006. Present were: Mayor Judith Ann Guye; Councilpersons: R. N. Beckwith, J. S. Bibey, V. T. Broughton, T. P. Ditty, H. R. Elbon, T. Z. Hensil, R. J. Malcolm, C. L. Metheny, K. L. Wilmoth and R. A. Woolwine; City Clerk P. J. Graziani, Jr., City Treasurer L. L. Crosston, City Attorney R. T. Busch, Police Captain J. E. Batdorf and Elkins Fire Chief T. W. Meader.
Pursuant to a Class I legal advertisement published in The Inter-Mountain on May 26, 2006, Council conducted a public hearing on two proposed ordinances: No. 042, amending the rate of certain business fees and No. 044, providing for reimbursement by offenders of the cost of incarceration in the Regional Jail.
Mayor Guye invited any person in attendance wishing to make comment, present protest, or make suggestions to come forward and do so.
O. Hope Jerrio, resident of 311 11th Street, suggested that business fees imposed upon new businesses be reduced to 25¢ per year for the first five years, as an inducement for noncompliant businesses to obtain a license and pay Business and Occupation Tax.
There was no other comment.
The public hearing adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
